About Boulebar Spitalfields

Boulebar Spitalfields is one of those places you end up telling friends about five minutes after you arrive, because it feels instantly welcoming and a little bit special without trying too hard. Tucked away at 7 Frying Pan Alley, London E1 7HS, right in the heart of the Spitalfields buzz, this restaurant brings a relaxed, social energy that works just as well for a casual lunch as it does for an easygoing evening out. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere leans friendly and unpretentious, with a layout that encourages lingering conversations, shared plates, and spontaneous plans. Boulebar Spitalfields balances its food and drink offering in a way that feels thoughtful rather than overwhelming, so whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite or settling in for a longer dine-in experience, it never feels rushed. The drinks menu plays a big role in the overall vibe, with well-made cocktails, a solid beer selection, and a range of wines and spirits that suit both relaxed afternoons and lively nights. If coffee is more your pace, it fits seamlessly into the rhythm of the space, making it an easy meeting point during the day. Service options like dine-in, takeaway, and delivery add flexibility, which is especially handy if you want to enjoy the flavors without changing your plans. What really stands out is how the restaurant feels approachable while still offering a sense of occasion, making it equally appealing to locals, visitors, and anyone wandering through the area. It’s the kind of spot where food, drinks, and atmosphere work together naturally, creating an experience that feels social, comfortable, and confidently itself. Conversations tend to spill easily from table to table, and the pacing of the service supports that laid-back mood, letting guests set their own tempo. It’s a restaurant that feels designed for real moments, whether that’s a midweek catch-up or an unplanned stop that turns into hours.

Great place to try Pentaque. It was quite free when we went so we got to enjoy the space. The instructor was incredible, really got us hyped and we fully enjoyed the game. The space is in the basement and the decor could use some extra touches but the drinks and atmosphere are great. Recommend for medium groups.

FRENCH VIBES & PÉTANQUE ???????? Spitalfields Market, London ⭐ 5/5 ££ If you're after something different, this is it. @boulebar.uk brings a slice of the South of #France to Spitalfields Market, combining authentic French dining with the ultimate group activity: #pétanque (aka French boules ). And trust me, it’s just as fun as it sounds. The setting is super chic and playful, tucked inside the market with a gorgeous rustic vibe. You can sip cocktails, nibble on cheese, and battle it out over pétanque... honestly, the perfect mix of food, fun and flair We went for the TOUR DE FRANCE platter Their signature board loaded with charcuterie and cheese from different French regions — creamy brie, rich saucisson, punchy pickles, crusty baguette… basically a French dream on a board Other faves: French #fries with homemade aïoli — crispy and garlicky in the best way #Olives Provençales — bursting with herby, marinated flavour Drinks-wise, this is the place for a fun cocktail while you play: I loved the Strawberry #Mojito (super fresh & fruity), my friends went for the Watermelon Picanté — bold, spicy and SO good (but too hot for my spice-zero self ) Whether it’s a quirky date, group catch-up, or a pre-dinner adventure. Boulebar is a total win French vibes, Spitalfields energy, and a really fun way to eat, drink and play.

Stopped in for a couple of drinks over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised — can’t believe I hadn’t discovered this place sooner! The cocktails were top-notch, especially the Watermelon Picante — a perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The staff made the experience even better. A lovely lady named Reka (apologies if I’ve misspelled it!) was an absolute delight — super friendly, bubbly, and genuinely helpful. You could tell she really loves what she does. Can’t wait to come back!

Second time in this place! I went with a group of friends and we ended up spending hours there without even noticing. The petanque game was surprisingly fun and competitive — we got really into it and laughed non-stop. We also ordered some food while playing, and everything was delicious. The cocktails were another highlight: really tasty and perfect to enjoy throughout the afternoon. It was a very different kind of plan for us, something we don’t usually do, and that’s exactly why we loved it. Mixing games, food, laughs, and a great atmosphere made the whole experience fantastic.

When I visited it was really quiet so I can’t judge on the atmosphere but the drinks were strong and there were some good options. The lady serving us seem to be quite polite and helpful, which was nice.

We visited on a Saturday evening and had a great time! The staff was really friendly and explained the rules very well. Cocktails are delicious and the food went down a treat. Could have a bit more of a vibe with the music.
